Here at Bee Local Magazine we have a spooktacular list of things to do this Halloween in Leighton Buzzard and the surrounding Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire area.  It’s frightfully good!

Waddesdon Manor
Throughout October half-term (20-28 Oct) we will be running a series of Halloween events, aptly named Horrible Halloween. Visitors are invited to test their bravery by taking part in a ‘Creatures of the Night’ trail, indulge in a spooky afternoon tea, get creative with pumpkin carving, and enter our fancy dress competition using #waddesdondressedtokill.
We’ll end the week on a high, with our two-day Halloween party, a Fête Worse than Death. This French Revolution themed event is perfect for families and adults alike, as we fill the Stables Courtyard with party games, stalls and more.

Boo at the Zoo week at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo
Saturday 20 October – Wednesday 31 October 2018
For hairy, but not too scary, Halloween fun, families can trick-or-treat themselves to a magical trip to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, for special October half-term event, Boo at the Zoo.

Any child who has ever heard an eerie cry from outside or a strange rustling from the kitchen cupboard will love learning about the fascinating animals that make these Night-time Noises. Kids can experiment with Creepy Crafts, make Menacing Masks or carve their own Petrifying Pumpkins, as well as transform into black cats, spiders and other Halloween creatures with the help of the Zoo’s Fearsome Face Painters. For under 5s, follow the scarecrow and his friends down to the farm for some Magic and Mayhem fun and games.

Animal-lovers can experience a whole host of interactive, terrifying talks and devilish demonstrations that will amaze even the cleverest little monsters. Get to know the Zoo’s owls in a special Owloween Encounter, and find out how elephants created the cyclops or what butterflies have to do with the Day of the Dead at a whole series of Monster Mythbusters talks, running all day. Book your zoo tickets online now at www.zsl.org

Caldecotte Ghost Train 2018
Caldecotte Miniature Railway
Lakeside Grove, Caldecotte, MK7 8HP
Our ever popular Halloween train is back, and even more haunted than ever, and it’s still £1 for 2 trips round! Remember, we want to see as many scary costumes as possible (yes parents, that means you too!)

Based on feedback from last year, we will be running this event on a Saturday and starting at the earlier time of 16:30 (and running until 20:30), so no school nights and younger children can come and ride in the daylight / dusk time, but if you’re really brave, dare you ride the ghost train in the dark?!
We expect this event to be very busy, so please be patient with us, we’ll be running as many trains as we can throughout the evening!
No booking required, just turn up and buy your tickets on the evening, but be prepared for a fright!
