ESPA pop up spa at Aqua Sana

Despite being trained as a beauty therapist at the world reknowned Henlow Grange I had remarkably (for my age) never experienced a spa from the other side of the counter.  Fortunately as a treat for a friend’s birthday a few of the ladies clubbed together and booked into Aqua Sana in Woburn Forest Centre Parcs (MK45 2HZ).   It was a beautiful day and we were able to enjoy lunch on the terrace and the outdoor pool in glorious sunshine.

Another stroke of fortune was when I was looking through the selections of treatments to book I was captured by the description of the ESPA calm massage.  I didn’t realise when I booked it that this was a rare chance to experience ESPA at Aqua Sana as the team were visiting with a pop up spa.  Fortune indeed; I cannot praise my therapist, the products or the massage itself highly enough, so impressed was I felt compelled to write.

ESPA will only be at Woburn Forest until  15th June but if you do get a chance to go along I urge you to book in for an ESPA treatment.  Throughout the day the lovely ESPA therapists were around to talk to and there is a schedule of workshops on subjects such as sleep, skin health and anti-ageing as well as a skincare cocktail bar where you can learn to layer and blend your products to maximise the effects for your skin.  They describe their products as

guided by a holistic philosophy and natural skincare science, blending plant and marine actives with essential oils to create unique Tri-Active™ formulations to deliver innovative products and treatments for the very best results!

I don’t know about the science but what I can say is that my skin felt fantastic, the scent was heavenly and I left the treatment room on a blissful cloud of relaxation.  My only regret is that I booked my treatment mid-afternoon and then continued to use the pool and various steam rooms and saunas, my recommendation is that you have the treatment last to fully benefit from the products and the sense of bliss.

You can see the full treatment menu on the link; I chose the ESPA Calm Massage and after explaining that my neck and shoulders were tight my therapist spent plenty of time working on the knots whilst still providing a beautifully flowing and relaxing massage.

ESPA products

A special deal was running to buy two products and get two free products (pictured on my dressing table).  Having experienced the scent and smoothness of my skin and without any of my usual redness and irritation I was happy to take them up on the offer.  The ESPA therapists were on hand at the end of the day as we all chose their products above the other brands.  It has been about two weeks since I was there and I have been using the products night and day.  I love the Optimal Skin ProCleaner which is a 3 in 1 cleanser, exfoliator and mask.  Used on wet skin it exfoliates and cleanses and is washed off with water and on dry skin you massage it in the and jojoba balls melt into a gorgeous, nourishing oil that you can leave on as a mask.   Using their principles of layering products there is a nourishing serum and then moisturiser.  It takes me only a couple of minutes to complete the routine which was very important to me.  Since using it I have definitely noticed a smoother and more even tone to my skin, it feel firmer and that aside the oils are a joy to smell.

They are also launching a new product this month called Tri-Active Advanced Night Booster (£42) they say – it’s designed to transform your favourite day time skincare products into age-defying night-time products in just a few drops thanks to a blend of Plant Cells from the Four O’clock Flower, Bio-Retinol and Caffeine that speed up overnight cell recovery and renewal so you wake to smoother skin with a more even skin tone.  I’m looking forward to trying out that product too.
