LB Connect is Leighton Buzzard’s leading business network group who meet weekly to share business and referrals. As a not-for-profit organisation a part of the group’s objectives is to raise money for their nominated charity.
As a leading business group in the town, LB Connect have been part of the organisation team and provided funding for Leighton-Linslade Town Council’s Business Network Event for the past 4 years. Now in its 5th year the Business Network Event is the largest business event in the town attracting over 150 local attendees. Despite LB Connect’s ongoing commitment to support and promote its members as well as Leighton Buzzard’s greater business community, the financial commitment in assisting the town council to put on this event always posed a conflict between their charitable and business objectives.
Three members of LB Connect have tackled that problem head on and between them are replacing the funding provided by LB Connect. Hascat Safety, Bee Local Magazine and Graham Hunt & Co are now sponsors of the event which means that more of the profits from LB Connect can be donated to their nominated charity, KidsOut.
Bob Chandler, Chairman of LB Connect and owner of HASCAT Safety, stated;
“the support of local charities is one of LB Connects main priorities alongside promoting local businesses, therefore anything we can do to increase the donation is welcomed.”
Andrena Carden-White from Bee Local Magazine says
“In LB Connect we are all passionate about supporting KidsOut it is a fantastic charity that support children who have experienced domestic violence. They provide toys and days-out giving hope for both the children and their mums at such a difficult time. It was obvious that if the members could replace the funding for this event the charity would get more and so for me it was an easy decision”
The Business Network event is on Wednesday 26th April at Leighton Buzzard Golf Club. Full details and how to register can be found at www.leightonlinslade-tc.gov.uk/your-community/business/
